HAMDEN — An 18-year-old Hamden man has died from injuries sustained in a fall at a Connecticut state park.
Tobias Engel, of 29 Douglas Drive in Hamden, was injured in a fall on Sunday at Sleeping Giant State Park, the Department of Environmental and Energy Protection said in a press release. According to The Hartford Courant, Engel was hiking in the area known as “the chin” when, shortly before 4:30 p.m., he fell.
Spokesman Dennis Schain said Engel was pronounced dead at Yale New Haven Hospital Sunday night.
The park, a popular hiking destination, is located just across Quinnipiac University on Route 10, and is roughly 20 minutes from Naugatuck. Engel's father, Len Engel, is an English professor at Quinnipiac University.
