A Bridgeport man was arrested on narcotics and firearms charges after police said he sold cocaine and a pistol to an undercover police officer.

John Vieira, 30, of 36 Oman St., was taken into custody on Wednesday on an arrest warrant charging him with selling cocaine and theft of a firearm.

According to Deputy Police Chief Joshua Bernegger, in December 2011 Vieira sold .07 grams of narcotics and a .38 caliber handgun to uncover officers. Bernegger declined to state where the alleged sale occurred, due to the fact that it could compromise the investigation.
