A woman wearing a red wig robbed a People’s United Bank branch inside a Naugatuck supermarket on Saturday.

Police are searching for the female suspect that entered Stop & Shop at the Mountview Plaza and headed over to the bank branch, which is located inside the supermarket.

The woman did not display any weapon, however she demanded money from the teller, said Lt. Robert Harrison, Naugatuck police spokesman. She made off with an undisclosed amount and was last seen leaving the 727 Rubber Ave. plaza in a silver Saturn.

Police said a white male wearing sunglasses was driving the Saturn. The car was last seen going eastbound on Field Street, Harrison said.

Police responded at 2:45 p.m. The store was still open following the bank robbery.

No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect was 5’6”. Police did not have any further details on her description. Harrison said there were no images available of the suspects at this time.

Harrison said the Naugatuck Police Department Patrol Division and Detective Division are following several leads in this case at this time.

The People’s United Bank branch inside Stop & Shop was robbed Saturday afternoon, Naugatuck police said.

Police said the robbery happened shortly after 3 p.m. Officers are reportedly on their way to the Stop & Shop to get details.

Lt. Robert Harrison, police spokesman, said no one was injured during the robbery. Details on the suspect are still being assembled and will likely be available later today.

The supermarket is located in the Mountview Plaza, at 727 Rubber Ave. Harrison said Stop & Shop is open at this time.
