It’s a wine tasting with a little bit of history.
The Naugatuck Historical Society is sponsoring "Savor Connecticut," a wine-focused event next month involving samplings, food and a talk by a pair of authors who will be imparting their knowledge about the craft.
Eric Lehman and Amy Nawrocki will speak about their book “A History of Connecticut Wine, Vineyard in Your Backyard,” which explores the history of wine throughout the state, as its roots go back to the colonial days, said historical society President Wendy Murphy.
Later during the event, Dr. Paul DiGrazia, founder and winemaker of DiGrazia Vineyards in Brookfield, will be presenting tastings of his wine. DiGrazia founded his vineyard in 1978 as part of the Connecticut Wine Trail, Murphy said.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m., at the Naugatuck Historical Society, located at 195 Water St.
Meanwhile, Mountview Wines & Liquors is the official sponsor of the event. The business will be bringing the taste of Calvary Brewery for those who prefer a hoppier flavor to their drinks.
On top of this, local foods from Fascia Chocolates, New England Bakers, Nardelli’s Grinder Shoppe and Jesse Camille’s Restaurant will be on hand as well.
Tickets are $10 per person, $5 if you are a member of the Naugatuck Historical Society. Each guest will receive $5 off of their wine purchase made that evening. Tickets are available at the Museum and at Mount View Wines and Liquors owned by Saverio D’Arcangelo, 727 Rubber Ave, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
