Naugatuck Man Acquitted of Sex Assault Charges
A judge dropped the charges on Monday against a 24-year-old borough resident.
A Naugatuck man was acquitted in Waterbury Superior Court on Monday of serious sexual assault charges.
Joseph Fields Jr., 24, was accused of 10 felony charges including first-degree and fourth-degree sexual assault, as well as risk of injury to a minor. The charges stemmed from allegations brought forward by a 9-year-old, the clerk’s office said.
Judge Thomas O’Keefe Jr. acquitted Fields on Monday, the clerk’s office said. This means all the charges are dropped.
According to a special report in The Citizen’s News, O’Keefe granted the aquittal after Fields’ attorney, Martin Minella, presented emails that showed alleged contact between the mother of the girl and Fields.
