Naugatuck Police Investigate Dog Theft From Home

Naugatuck police are investigating the theft of a small dog taken from a home in the Lantern Park complex over the weekend.

Police responded to the apartment on Saturday after a resident, Tiffanie Begin, said her Yorkshire-Poodle mix dog named "Daisy" was gone after Begin went out for two hours.

Begin told police she went out at 6:30 p.m. and placed Daisy in her crate in the kitchen, which she typically does when she left the residence. When she got back at 8:30 p.m. Daisy was no longer there, said Lt. Robert Harrison, Naugatuck police spokesman.

Begin said spent an hour talking to friends in an attempt to locate Daisy, police said. Harrison said she kept her front door locked, however a sliding door in the back of the apartment was not locked.

Police cavanassed the area to talk to neighbors however they have no further information in regards to the case. Begin told Patch she doesn't know "what kind of person" would steal a dog like this.

In an email to Patch, Begin described Daisy as “very friendly” and “always happy.”

“We really miss her and want her to return to us safely,” Begin said.  

Daisy is blond and tan colored, and she has not been spayed. She was wearing a black harness with one green rabies vaccine tag and one pink tag before she went missing. Begin’s name and number are on one of the tags.
