New Dispatchers Join the Fire Department

Naugatuck Mayor Robert Mezzo swears in two new dispatchers.

Two new dispatchers were sworn in during a brief ceremony on Monday.

Mayor Robert Mezzo administered the oath to Watertown resident David Hardt and Shelton resident David Vanwart, the two new dispatchers to join the fire department. Both already underwent their first day on the job this week, explained Fire Chief Kenneth Hanks.

Both Vanwart and Hardt as finalists during a round of interviews last year. Their names were kept on file as potential future candidates for the dispatcher jobs.

Hanks previously said dispatchers earn a base salary of $39,000 with potential for $10,000 to $20,000 in overtime.
