Police: Woman Steals XBox from Walmart With Child Present
Naugatuck Police recently filed the following arrests. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not equal a conviction.
A 29-year-old Naugatuck woman was charged with sixth-degree larceny and risk of injury to a child after she was accused of stealing an XBox entertainment system and an adapter worth $200 from the electronics department at Walmart while her juvenile daughter was with her, according to a police report.
Claritza LaFontaine, of 570 South Main St., was released on a $1,500 non-surety bond and is expected to be arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court on July 25.
Teodoro Salazar, 29, of 400 Scott St., was charged with illegal sale of narcotics or certain hallucinogens and distribution of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school zone. A police report was not yet completed as of this publication.

A youthful offender turned himself in on an active warrant for third-degree criminal trespass after he entered a blocked off area of land being developed by Apple Oil. He was given a court date of Aug. 1 and released on a promise to appear.
A 21-year-old man and a juvenile were arrested for fighting in the road on High Street on July 9.

During the argument, Charles Thiel, of 290 High St., punched the juvenile, whose name was not released. Thiel was charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child and beach of peace. He was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is expected to be arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court on July 25.
The juvenile was charged with breach of peace and third-degree assault and was released to the custody of his mother. He will be arraigned on July 25 at Waterbury Superior Court.
Monica Hartis, 25, of 18 Morning Mist Road, Naugatuck, second-degree failure to appear.
Charlean Allen, 44, of 53 Hawkins St., Waterbury, was charged with failure to respond to an infraction.
Erik Gmitter, 22, of 2 Quail Hollow Road, Beacon Falls, was charged with sixth-degree larceny after stealing a $30 Coleman Micro Stove Butane tank from Walmart, according to a police report. He was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and will be arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court on July 25.
Mike Solomon, 20, of 44 Lone Oak Ave., Waterbury, was charged with second-degree failure to appear.
