Connecticut Community Foundation awards nearly $700,000 in scholarships in 2013

The Connecticut Community Foundation recently awarded nearly $700,000 in scholarships to students, primarily from Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills, for the 2013-2014 school year.  The Foundation presented over 300 awards from over 120 scholarship funds established by area donors. See the recipients at www.conncf.org/current-scholars

On the evening of June 19th, the Foundation held a scholarship reception to celebrate the achievements and promise of its recent scholars.  Over 300 students, parents, and donors gathered together at the newly-opened Aria Wedding & Banquet Facility by Villa Rosa in Prospect. “Three former scholarship recipients shared how their awards through the Foundation helped them achieve their academic and career goals.  Through the generosity of hundreds of donors, the new group of 2013 scholars will be better equipped with the knowledge and skills they’ll need to succeed in life,” said Foundation President, Paula Van Ness.

As the region’s largest scholarship provider, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships to students since 1989. First-time applicants must be entering their first year of college and live in Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Cheshire, Goshen, Litchfield, Middlebury, Morris, Naugatuck, New Milford, Oxford, Prospect, Roxbury, Southbury, Thomaston, Warren, Washington, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott, or Woodbury.
