CT Summer Meals, Blitz Day!

We are reaching out to you because we need your help fighting childhood hunger this summer. Though childhood summers should be a time of food, friends and fun, far too many kids in Connecticut find themselves worrying about how they'll eat without the safety net of school breakfast and lunch. Summer food programs provide free, nutritious meals to any child under age 18 at participating locations. No paperwork or registration is required. These address the critical need for proper nutrition and a belief that summer vacation should not end the availability of nutritious meals for children.

Summer food programs currently reach only 1 out of 4 children in Connecticut who rely on school meals. Why? Not many families are aware of this program. End Hunger Connecticut! (EHC!) is an non-profit organization that works to move people toward food security and self-sufficiency.

Free summer meals are available to kids and teens across Connecticut who come to a summer meals site in the community. During these tough economic times, free summer meals can help families save money and stretch their already tight summer food budgets. Many summer meals sites offer fun learning and recreational activities so kids and teens can eat a healthy meal while staying active and being with friends.

Join us on July 8th for an opportunity to raise awareness of free summer meals in Naugatuck and Waterbury. See the attached flyer to learn more about how you can help!

The event will be held at Baumer's Pond at 10:45 in Naugatuck and at Chase Park at 10:15 in Waterbury.
