Prospect Dunkin' Donuts Supports Local Family's Cause

Local Dunkin' Donuts donates over $1200 to Jayden’s Journey to Chromosome Research fundraiser to benefit Chromosome Disorder Outreach, Inc.

As part of its commitment to the local community, The MCR Donuts Franchise Group of Dunkin’ Donuts recently donated to Jayden’s Journey to Chromosome Research fundraiser, a 5K run and walk that was held on August 10 at Hotchkiss Park in Prospect, CT.

Organized by Susan Regalado of Prospect, CT, the goal of the event was to raise money for Chromosome Disorder Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit organization for families affected by any type of rare chromosome disorder.  Regalado’s commitment to this cause is a personal one, as her son Jayden, 5, was born with a rare chromosome disorder known as Ring 21 deletion, which causes delayed motor functions, delayed growth, mental impairment and physical traits similar to Down Syndrome.

The Prospect Dunkin’ Donuts located at 19 Waterbury Road collected donations through guest contributions on August 10, 2013, totaling $634.  Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee Manny Rocha matched that amount, for a total donation of $1,268 to Jayden’s Journey to Chromosome Research for Chromosome Disorder Outreach, Inc.

The franchise group’s connection with the family was made through a mutual friend via Facebook.  “This is a first-time fundraiser organized by the Regalado family and we were happy to support their effort,” said Jorge Flamengo, Human Resource Manager for MCR Donuts.  “After meeting them and their precious son, we look forward to a continued relationship with the family and their cause."
