Geoff Fox: Give Me Another Chance

The popular meteorologist speaks for the first time Sunday night and ask Fox CT to reconsider its decision to let him go.

Meteorologist Geoff Fox, who was let go Friday by Fox CT for "inappropriate conduct," is asking his former employer to reconsider that decision.

In a blog posted Sunday night, Fox admits to the conduct and asks for a second chance.

"I know my former bosses in Hartford and Chicago will see this," he writes on his blog, "My Permanent Record.". "I am on my knees begging you reconsider your decision and please take me back. I am asking for another chance."

Fox was fired after transcripts of conversations of a sexual nature he had with a woman surfaced on the Internet. The private messages were sent through Facebook, and it's not clear how they were made public.

"I had no idea this private conversation would be made public, but what I did was still wrong even if it had remained private," Fox said. "This is a very difficult time for my family. I betrayed a trust with my wife and daughter which won’t be mended quickly. I have made promises to them I intend to keep."

As when he was let go from WTNH, where he worked for decades, his fans have been vocal in their support of him and their opposition to Fox CT's decision to let him go.

"...what EVER happened, this is your PERSONAL life….and it is not for any of us to judge or quite frankly to be privy to," one blog reader commented. "What you did was wrong, but in turn, whomever felt the need to destroy you, your family, your fans, your friends by making your private life public, without your consent is far more amoral."

Fox has been married for many years to his wife Helaine and they have a grown daughter. They live in Hamden.

It amazes me how many male politicians, military leaders and celebrities allow themselves to be compromised by the written word. Do they not bother to learn from others' mistakes? ....it seems like this form or recreation has cost many men their careers, families and celebrity status. It is not okay to write unacceptable sexual things to a woman who is not your wife, unless you don't have a wife and then the rules change. Saying "I'm sorry" after the fact does little to make up for the public embarassment you put your family through. There are lots of women out there who are looking to capitalize on hooking up with someone famous....for their own personal reasons....they go after you for the power, not because your sexual magnetism is too much for them to overcome.....lastly, how would you feel if your wife embarassed you that way???? Stupid is as stupid does.

Way to be sexist by blaming only men for this stupid behavior. There's a certain former CIA director that could point out women are just as capable of sending inappropriate forms of communication.

There is nothing PRIVATE about the INTERNET! Face-book is the worse. He's only a weather man ,there are plenty of them out there from Gay to Tall to women to give and say the wrong forecast! I recall when Al Terzi was let go for the same thing (sort of) from WTNH and now they were joined up once again on Fox . Funny if you think about it!
