Naugatuck Couple Earn 2014 Raymond K Foley Award

David and Sandra Heller chosen as this year's recipients.

David and Sandra Heller have been selected as the 2014 recipients of the Raymond K. Foley Award, presented by the Naugatuck Parent School Council in honor of an individual or group who has demonstrated outstanding service and unselfish dedication contributing to the betterment of Naugatuck children.

Dave and Sandra have spent over 20 years selflessly volunteering for the betterment of Naugatuck’s children. David and Sandra moved to Naugatuck in 1991. They have three children, Kristen, Brendan and Trevor. Dave is a trial attorney for Nationwide Insurance Company and Sandra is a school social worker at Platt Technical High School.

While many parents in Naugatuck actively volunteer when their children are in school and youth programs, what sets Dave and Sandra apart is their continued level of volunteerism for Naugatuck’s children, even after their own children had graduated from Naugatuck Public Schools.

Dave has been a member of the Naugatuck Board of Education since 2005 and has served as the Chairman of the Board since 2011. Dave is also the co-founder and organizer of the very successful 5K St. Patrick’s Day Road Race.

Like Dave, Sandra has also continued her volunteerism in the community. Sandra serves on the Advisory Board for Naugatuck Youth Services and was a founding member of Naugatuck Cultural Council helping to put on events such as the Eid-Ul-Adha Celebration Festival, a large-scale community conversation to bring together diverse members of our community, and is now branching into a Youth Leadership Development program for Naugatuck’s children.

Dave and Sandra Heller will be honored at the annual Foley Award Dinner on Tuesday, May 6 at the Crystal Room in Naugatuck. Tickets are $30 and are available at all Naugatuck Public Schools, the Tuttle Building, and the town hall.

Tickets for the Foley Award will be on sale until Thursday, May 1, 2014.

Please join the Naugatuck Parent School Council in honoring David and Sandra Heller for their dedication to the children of Naugatuck.
