Starlight Dinner Dance to Benefit St. Jude

The dance will be held at the Pontelandolfo Club in Waterbury.

On Friday, March 8, 2013, the sixth annual Starlight Dinner Dance to benefit the St. Jude Research Hospital will take place at La Bella Vista Fine Catering (The Pontelandolfo Club) in Waterbury.

St. Jude Research Hospital opened in February 1962.  Since opening its doors, the hospital has become a world leader in advancing the treatment and prevention of catastrophic disease in children.  The hospital averages 5,700 active patients per year, with over 260 patients passing through its doors each day.  St. Jude prides itself on being a teaching hospital, where clinicians and specialists conduct research designed to help understand disease, improve diagnosis, develop treatment options, promote prevention and enhance quality of life for its patients.  Through the developments and findings of St. Jude employees, clinicians and researchers, the overall survival rates for childhood cancers has grown from 20 percent in 1962 to more than 80 percent today.  In 1962 the survival rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common form of childhood cancer, was 4 percent.  Today, thanks to the research and treatment performed at St. Jude, the survival rate for the disease is 94 percent.

The hospital commits itself to the mission of treating patients regardless of their ability to pay for medical services.  No child or family in need is ever turned away from St. Jude.  The hospital succeeds in this mission each and every day, with the help of contributions and funds raised through events like the Starlight Dinner Dance.  In 2012, the Starlight Dinner Dance raised over $30,000for St. Jude Research Hospital, hosting an event with more than 300 in attendance.  The goal of the 2013 Starlight Dinner Dance is to be bigger and better than ever before.

This elegant evening will feature cocktails, silent auction, a five course dinner, and dancing. Joining us again this year as our emcees are Chaz and AJ from WPLR’s morning show. Individual tickets sold before February 1, 2013 is $60 per person or $600 for a table of ten. After February 1, 2013, the price goes up to $75 per person or $750 for a table of 10.

I wholeheartedly agree with Eric. I am thinking of taking my account to a different bank in protest.Read More (NAUGATUCK Savings & Loan perhaps) May sound silly to some, but in my opinion, changing the name of such an historic institution to me is blasphemous, not to mention sounding stupid. ION indeed!
