This Weekend: Benefit Dinner, Hall of Fame, Flea Market

Here are our picks for the top five things going on this weekend in Naugatuck.

It’s quite a packed weekend of events in the borough. Here’s a little handy rundown of some of the top events from Oct. 14-16.


Date:
Friday, Oct. 14, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Location:
Prospect VFW, 218 Cheshire Road, Prospect.
Description:
The borough police and fire departments are holding a benefit dinner for Naugatuck police officer Danielle Parady, . The 40-year-old officer is a decorated member of the Naugatuck police force. The dinner is at the Prospect VFW and tickets are $25. All proceeds will go to Parady and her daughter. Call the Naugatuck Police Department, at 203-729-5221, for tickets.

Saturday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m.
Location:
Continental Room, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck.
Description: will be inducted in the Naugatuck Hall of Fame on Saturday. NBA player, and Waterbury resident, Ryan Gomes. Tickets aren’t sold at the door, however they can be obtained by calling Ray Rossi Jr. at 203-729-4865, Gordon Rossi at 203-723-7893 or any inductee.

Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain date is Sunday, see listing)
Location:
Salem School, 124 Meadow St., Naugatuck.
Description:
After being postponed due to weather this month, the flea market at Salem School . Many items will be for sale and all proceeds go to the Salem School PSA.

Friday/Saturday Oct. 14/15 at 8 p.m., Sunday Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.
Location:
, 686 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck.
Description: From the listing description, "Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent's doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves."

Description:
The farmers market ends during the last week of October, so be sure to get your fresh produce while you can.

I am thinking of taking my account to a different bank in protest.Read More (NAUGATUCK Savings & Loan perhaps) May sound silly to some, but in my opinion, changing the name of such an historic institution to me is blasphemous, not to mention sounding stupid. ION indeed!
