Naugatuck Unemployment Up in January But Down Year-Over-Year

January unemployment rate close to 2013 average.

Naugatuck's January unemployment rate — 9.6 percent — is just a touch over the 2013 average but well below the 10.9 percent recorded at the same time last year.

According to the Connecticut Department of Labor, Naugatuck averaged 9.4 percent unemployment in 2013, with a low of 7.9 percent in December.

The town's total labor force increased slightly from December to January, however approximately two-thirds of those persons were unemployed, raising the rate by 1.7 percentage points.

This represents a 21.5 percent rise in unemployment month-over-month but a 11.9 percent decline year-over-year.

State, National Unemployment Rate

In Connecticut, the pool of jobless people jumped up to 7.2 percent in January from 6.8 percent overall in December. Nationally, the United State's unemployment rate for the same time period is 6.6 percent.

Our economy today has changed. No longer can people find an employer and plan to spend years there building a career and a good retirement account. The wave of the future is entrepreneurship. Families need to take control of their own destiny. Mom's need to be at home with their children, and we need to get back to old fashion values. I work a business that can help families take back their time, finances and their future. Just Over Broke (JOB) doesn't have to be a lifelong battle. I love what I do in helping families live their dreams...its possible, just believe in yourself! http://jdojnia.myambit.com/start-a-business/energy-526
