UPDATE: Gas Leak Repaired in Naugatuck

The leak was reported around 2 p.m. at Aetna and Hoadley streets.


Update at 5:57 a.m. Saturday: The gas leak on Hoadley Street between Rubber Avenue and Hoadley Terrace has been repaired, police said in a statement. Nobody was injured and the area is safe.

Hoadley Street off of Rubber Avenue on Naugatuck's west side was closed for several hours Friday afternoon and evening after reports of a gas leak at Hoadley's intersection with Aetna Street.

Yankee Gas was on scene determining the cause of the leak, said Mitch Gross, company spokesman.

Residents have not been evacuated from their homes. The smell of gas is coming from sewers.

It is unclear how long the roads will be closed, said Lt. Bryan Cammarata, Naugatuck police spokesman.
