The Naugatuck Exchange Club has announced the winners of this year's community champion awards.
The following people will be honored:
Citizen of the Year: Dolly Lengyel
Firefighter of the Year: John DeBisschop
Police Officer of the Year: Andre Moutela
Educator of the Year: MaryEllen Marques (posthumously)
This is the first year that someone has been chosen posthumously for the award. Mrs. Marques, a kindergarten teacher at Maple Hill Elementary School, died last year after a corageous battle with cancer.
They will be honored at a dinner on March 12 at the Crystal Room in Naugatuck. Cocktails are at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. sharp. Tickets are $40 apiece. Please call Nancy Bolton for tickets at 203.232.8338.
