Marine Corps Birthday Celebration Saturday at the Old Corner

The event will be held at 8 p.m. and is open to the public.

 

A celebration of the Marine Corps birthday will be held Saturday at the Old Corner Cafe in Naugatuck.

The event will begin at 8 p.m. Attorney Andrew Morrisey, a Marine, will read the commendant's message and the oldest and youngest Marines at the ceremony will cut cake.

The Marines will toast with Grog made from the original Tun Tavern recipe, said Jim Goggin, Naugatuck tax collector and a Marine Corps. veteran. History says that Tun Tavern in Philadelphia is where the Marine Corps. first recruited members.
