Do you know of someone who goes above and beyond to make life better for the children of Naugatuck? If so, this is the time of year to thank him or her.
People can nominate those whose selflessness and dedication helps children for the Raymond K. Foley Award. Given annually in the borough, the award is named after a longtime education who was an example of what dedication and service to children represents, said Hillside Middle School Principal Johnna Hunt.
The award will be presented to a selected recipient at a banquet to be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
The specific criteria for the award, which is presented by the Naugatuck Parent School Council, is that it honors an individual or group who has demonstrated outstanding service and unselfish dedication contributing to the betterment of Naugatuck children. Last year's recipients were Jim and Sue Goggin.
Applications for nominations are available at all Naugatuck Public Schools, the Naugatuck Board of Education building and Town Hall. (Print the nomination form attached to this article.)
All nominations must be received on or before 3 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013. They should be marked “Foley Award Nomination” and should be forwarded to:
