Will You Speak at Wednesday's Gun Violence Hearing?

Bipartisan Task Force on gun violence is holding a hearing in Newtown tonight. Do you plan on going?

The final hearing of the Bipartisan Task Force on Gun Violence Prevention and Children's Safety will be held at Newtown High School Wednesday night. While the general public is invited to attend and speak, Newtown residents, and particularly those directly invovled in the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, will have priorty.

According to a release from the task force, the event will run from 6 p.m. to midnight, with testimony reserved from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for local officials, local first responders and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School system.

For the remainder of the event, a lottery will be held on site to determine speakers. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. Officials warn that anyone arriving before that time will be turned away by security and space in the auditorium is limited to 850 persons. Once capacity is reached, the main entrance will be closed.
