On Wednesday, February 13 from 7:00-8:30 pm, Barnes & Noble, 1076 Post Road in Westport will sponsor a “Pitchapalooza” event for writers as part of an all-day, in-store fundraiser benefiting the Fairfield Public Library. When you are ready to make your purchases tell the cashier you are shopping for the Fairfield Public Library and up to 20% of your total will be donated to the Library.
Pitchapalooza is like an American Idol for books, only kinder! Writers should not miss this chance to pitch their book idea and get practical advice on getting published from “The Book Doctors” -- Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry. Twenty writers will be selected at random to give a one minute (!) “pitch” of their book. For a chance to pitch, you must purchase a copy of Eckstut and Sterry’s book, The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published from Barnes & Noble. “The Book Doctors” have conducted their dynamic programs on how to get published nationwide. The twenty chosen participants will receive professional constructive suggestions and the best pitch will receive an introduction to an agent or publisher.
You don’t have to pitch to attend or to support the Library. Supporting the Library is easy. Stop by Barnes & Noble Westport at any time on Wednesday, February 13 and buy books, dvds, music, toys and games and café items throughout the day. Don’t forget to mention the Fairfield Public Library!
Can’t make it to Barnes & Noble that day or the Pitchapalooza that night? No problem. Order from Barnes & Noble online February 13 through 18 and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to the Library.
How it works online: go to Barnes and Noble online and shop. On the checkout page, be sure to click the box that you are shopping for a book fair and type in the Fairfield Library Book Fair number 11013935. That’s it. Please tell friends and family in other towns and states to order with this number to benefit the Library.
