Help Veterans Achieve the Dream of Home Ownership

A Connecticut resident came up with an idea to give veterans quality and affordable real estate services, but she needs your help to get the project off the ground.

A place to call home — that's what Mary Incerto Tomlin wants to help veterans achieve. For the past two years, the Hamden resident worked on a project to help say "thank you" to U.S. veterans.

"In an effort to show my gratitude for the sacrifices our military members have made for us and for our country, I have spent the last couple of years building on an idea that will provide veterans with exceptional yet affordable real estate services to assist them in obtaining their own home," she wrote.

Tomlin's been building a real estate network in each U.S. state, consisting of people or companies who pledge to give exceptional service to military members and their families, at reduced and affordable prices.

An office space and supplies are secured but Tomlin is reaching out to the community for help with other expenses. She created a GoFundMe project on Jan. 7 to help with utility bills and a website, among other costs. As of Jan. 27, she's raised $125 out of a $7,500 goal.

"The majority of the legwork on this project has been done, and I have contracts in place or in negotiation with several national providers, such as the VFW, who will collaborate in this effort," Tomlin said. "However, during this time I have exhausted all personal resources and favors available for this endeavor. This project has come so far and will be a such a tremendous benefit to our service members, that it would be heartbreaking were it to fail to come to fruition at this late stage. With most of the pieces in place, the only thing holding this project back from from launching at this point in time is funding."
