Connecticut State Police Troopers from Troop I in Bethany will hold a toy drive Saturday, Dec. 7, at Wal-Mart in Naugatuck.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the store, 1100 New Haven Road, Route 63.

Off-duty troopers will collect new, unwrapped toys/gifts and gift cards for needy families in the area along with officers from Beacon Falls, Bethany and Prospect.

“Every day, Connecticut State Troopers encounter children in need. Many of these children would

not wake up Christmas morning with a smile if it were not for the generosity of the people of Connecticut,” the state police stated in a news release. “Due to this need, each State Police Troop is dedicated to the success of “Stuff a cruiser holiday toy drive,” which is a statewide effort between Connecticut  State Police Department and the citizens of the state of Connecticut to team up to assist families in need during this holiday season.”

Toys collected in Naugatuck on Saturday will be distributed to needy families by First Church of Christ in Bethany; St. Michael’s Church in Beacon Falls; First Conregational Church in Beacon Falls; First Congregational Church of Prospect.
