Small Business Tips To Success

Small business is the backbone of the US economy. According to the US Small Business Administration, the small businesses:- provide 55% of all jobs and 66% of all net new jobs since the 1970s.- account for 54% of all U.S. sales- occupy 30-50% of all commercial space, an estimated 20-34 billion square feet.
Isn’t that amazing?
So how do you make sure your small business becomes and stays successful? There is no one secret to small business success. It’s a wonderful mixture of many different things, including building a great team, excellent customer service and affordable but quality products/services.
Here are 4 tips you can use to make sure your small business becomes and stays successful:
1. Make Your Business DifferentIf your business is exactly the same as your competitors’, why should a potential customer choose you over them? Always have that in mind - what can you do that’s different from your competition.

2. Hire Only The BestAs a small business owner, you’re probably very involved in the hiring process. Because of the fact it’s a small business, it’s even more important for who you hire.
Don’t hire just to fill a position that opened up. Find employees who are a right fit for your business and share your passion. Find employees who will help you grow your business. It will take time, but it will be worth it.

3. Market Your Business The Smart WayYou know the old saying “Work hard, not smart?” Well, this is not entirely true when you own your own business. You have to work hard AND smart.
When it comes to marketing your business online, you can invest your budget in:

  • basic link building, where you submit your website to trusted general and industry directories like JoeAnt and BOTW (Best of the Web);
  • local search - create/claim your local listing in Google, Yahoo! and Bing and make sure they’re accurate when it comes to your business information. You should also list your website in as many major local websites as possible, like YellowPages.com or Local.com.
  • email marketing - build a list of prospective customers and use email marketing to promote your small business. Effective and affordable email marketing solutions are offered by various companies, such as Pitney Bowes or MailChimp.

4. Value Your Customers Above AllIt all comes down to one thing, though - your customers. How do you treat them? Make sure your customer service is exceptional and above your competition. Value your customers and let them know how much you appreciate their trust in your small business - follow up with them to make sure they’re 100% happy with your company and your products/services, and say “Thank you.”
