Naugatuck Fire Department Fire Fighter Exam

Naugatuck Fire Department Openings

I have been getting phone calls and emails almost evey day with someone asking how to become a full time fire fighter in Naugatuck.  My blog post last year covered most of the details

The only change is the NFD no longer requires certification as an emergency medical technician.

Anyone considering applying must pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).  Link for CPAT information on left side of this web page www.ct.gov/cfpc

CPAT is a job specific physical ability test created by the International Association of Fire Fighters and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. The link below is for a CPAT orientation video by the California Joint Fire Fighter Apprentice Committee.  CPAT is run the same way in Connecticut.

A successful candidate must have a valid (no older than one year) CPAT card at date of appointment to the fire department.  CPAT applications are open until March 7, 2013.

Applications for the NFD should be available in early February.  Written exam and interviews are planned for July.

Please email me at naugfire@snet.net if you have any questions about the Naugatuck Fire Department or the testing process.
