Amity Summer Musical Theater Camp - Broadway Classics & Instrumental Summer Camp

Make your child a star this summer at Amity Performing Arts Theater or Instrumental Camps run by award winning theater teachers Rob & Andrea Kennedy and Music teacher Phil Dolan.

This Theater Arts Day Camp, open to students grade 2 through high school, is designed to teach students voice, dance and acting skills; give them performance experience; ignite their creative spirit; build a sense of accomplishment and community and encourage them to have fun! The camp culminates in a full production where all of the students participate. All skill levels are welcome.

Andrea Kennedy

Andrea Kennedy is a renown local voice teacher and acting coach originally from Orange, CT. As a performer Andrea has toured the world in such shows as The Sound of Music, The Golden Musicals of Broadway and as a featured performer for Costa Cruise lines.She is married to Rob Kennedy and they have two children; Ryan and Grace. Andrea and Rob have been directing young people for 13 years first at Shelton High School and now here at Amity.Her directing and choreography work includes How to Succeed in Business, The Who’s Tommy, Grease, Into the Woods, High School Musical, Godspell, Rent, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Les Miserables, Chicago, Legally Blonde the Musical, Sweeney Todd and In the Heights.

Andrea has been nominated for numerous CT High School Theater Awards and in 2013 was recognized as the best director for her production of Sweeney Todd.

Robert Kennedy

Rob Kennedy has been the theater arts teacher at Amity High school in Woodbridge Connecticut since 2007. Prior to his teaching career, Rob worked as an actor and director.He toured the US in the stage adaptation of To Kill A Mockingbird and has appeared off Broadway at the Harold Clurman and One Dream Theater. He has a Masters Degree in Education from Sacred Heart University and a Bachelors Degree in Theater Arts from SCSU. Since joining the faculty, Amity’s productions have twice won the New England Theater Conference Moss Hart Award for best High School production, and have won fourteen Connecticut High School Theater Awards. His directing credits include How to Succeed in Business, The Who’s Tommy, Grease, Into the Woods, High School Musical, The Laramie Project, Godspell, The Boys Next Door, Rent, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Bang Bang You’re Dead, Les Miserables, Chicago, Almost Maine, Legally Blonde the Musical, Sweeney Todd, 12 Angry Jurors and In the Heights. Rob lives in Bethany with his wife and co-director Andrea, son Ryan, Daughter Grace and their dog Holly.

Instrumental Music Camp
This brand new camp is designed for all levels from the beginner who wants to learn how to play an instrument to the advanced player that wants to get better. Daily lessons in music and performance leading up to a final camp production.  A great new experience for all budding musicians!

Summer Camp

Amity Region 5 Performing Arts Summer Camp-Instrumental

Cost $500  For siblings there is a $50 sibling discount.

For Who:

Ages 8 and up.  No experience necessary.  This camp is designed for all levels from the beginner who wants to learn how to play an instrument to the advanced player that wants to get better.

Instruction-Group and Individual

Sheet Music and Instruction Book

Studio Recording Sessions

T-Shirt

Fun Camp Activities including:  Movie Day, Pirate Day and more!

Performance on stage at the end of the month.

Time:

Starts:  July 7, 2014

Ends:  August 1, 2014

Monday through Friday 8am-12noon

Instrument Rental

Instruments are available for rent if you do not have one at an additional fee through Bethel Music Center.  See below for rental costs.  The rental period is 3 months.  The renter is solely responsible for the instruments rented.  Amity Region 5 assumes no responsibility for instruments rented through Bethel Music Center.  If you have your own instrument, then there is no rental fee.

Alto Saxophone, Oboe-$58.48

Tenor Saxophone, French Horn, Baritone-$77.62
