Chitty Chitty Bang Bang coming to the Warner Theatre
The family-friendly and magical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is coming to the Warner.
A few weeks ago, I got a call from the marketing department at the Warner Theatre in Torrington to see if I was interested in attending their upcoming production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Years ago I took my two boys to see a great presentation of Schoolhouse Rock Live there; I guess that put us on the family friendly list. So now my youngest son and I have tickets for Friday night. The Warner is a very large space but I have never had a problem seeing from the various seats that I have gotten. Sharon A. Wilcox, the new WSC Production Director at the Warner, tells me that this is a wonderful show for everyone in the family and assured me that yes, there will be a flying car.
In the show an eccentric professor invents wacky machinery, but can’t seem to make ends meet. When, at the urging of his children, he invents a revolutionary car, a foreign government becomes interested in it, and sets forth on a sinister plan to get their hands on it. Based on the 1968 movie starring Dick Van Dyke as Caractacus Potts and Sally Ann Howes as Truly Scrumptious. The Warner production is directed by Rick Doyle, and features musical direction by TJ Thompson and choreography by Sheila Waters Fucci.
