Halloween Costumes In and Around the Borough

Children enjoying the Fall Festival held at their elementary school

Andrew Avenue and Hop Brook Elementary Schools held their annual Fall Festival on Friday, October 26 from 6:00 to 8:00. Both were well-attended by students in costume. Principal Taran Gruber sold tickets for the event at a table near the cafeteria at Andrew and allowed me to take photos of some of the costumed children enjoying the evening. Parent Kim Henry explained that the children had been allowed to wear their costume to school if it was a book character. They were asked to bring in a copy of the book where their character appears or they could write a book to go along with their costume. Ms. Henry's son Kevin dressed as a super hero and her daughter Kayla was a princess in a purple gown.

At Hop Brook, new principal Evelyn Gobstein sat at a table near the entrance selling tickets and welcomed me when I arived. Children in costume tried games of skill, while teachers Rebecca Sciacca and Laura Kaelin ran the cake walk. PTO parent Phil Zembruski zipped past me helping pull off this evening of fun.

I was too early for the costume ball in the Neary Ballroom. If anyone has photos of costumes, feel free to upload them to this post.
