Preview of 'A Bad Year For Tomatoes' at the Phoenix Stage Company

October 13 through October 27, 2012 at Naugatuck Valley's own theatre

Coming to the Phoenix Stage Company

October 13, 19, 20, 26 & 27, 2012 at 8:00pm
October 14 & 21, 2012 at 2:00pm

Opening Night of this show will mark the 200th performance at the Phoenix Stage Company! In two short years, this little gem of a theatre has produced so many shows in house that they have quickly reached this milestone, which does not include special events they have hosted. Some of the numerous local actors that have graced the PSC stage will be in attendance....and I'll be there, too.

Fed up with the pressures and demands of her television acting career, Myra Marlowe decides to chuck the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and head East to the tiny New England hamlet of Beaver Haven, Vermont - much to the dismay of her longtime Hollywood agent and good friend, Tom Lamont.

Once settled in, Myra decides to embark on fulfilling two lifelong dreams:  to write her autobiography & to grow the perfect tomato.  But, alas, her aspirations are short-lived as she is subjected to two bothersome eccentric nosy neighbors, a crazy would-be witch with homicidal tendencies; and, last but not least, a Neanderthal backwoodsman.

Follow along as Myra attempts to thwart her newfound friends' "neighborly" advances by creating her own zany diversions.  Will Myra write her memoir?  Will she grow that perfect tomato?

The cast of A BAD YEAR FOR TOMATOES:

MYRA -  Helen Adams (The Glass Menagerie)
TOM - Lyle Ressler (The Adventures of Peter Cottontail)
CORA - Donna Storms (Hallelujah Girls)
REBA - Patti Paganucci (The Adventures of Peter Cottontail)
PINEY - Dan Willey (Dial M for Murder)
WILLA - Tori Richnavski (Steel Magnolias)
SHERIFF - John Cummings (Dial M for Murder)

Directed by Ed Bassett (The Last Supper: A Musical Enactment)

Mr. Bassett has collected such a great cast for this replacement show. I am looking forward to seeing all of these big names in one very funny play.
