Preview of 'Les Miserable School Edition' at Taft School

Les Misérables comes alive at the Taft School this week, on October 18, 19 and 20  in Bingham Auditorium. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are not needed, and parking will be available at the day student parking lot.

Les Misérables is a remarkable novel first published in 1862 by French author Victor Hugo. It has since become the most popular musical in the world. Having more than 43,000 professional performances worldwide, giving a total audience figure of more than 55 million people.

Taft theater and film teacher Richard Doyle described student’s dedication for these productions as "Intensely passionate." Taft is planning for the production of this performance to be full-scale affair. Featuring a 24-foot diameter rotating stage, first-rate costumes, advanced lighting effects and incredibly realistic props. All contribute to making it a remarkable experience.

“After all,” says Doyle. “You’re only as good as your last show.”  

The students at The Taft School in Watertown will proudly present Les Miserable School Edition October 18 throught October 20, 2012. All shows will begin at 7:30 PM in the Bingham Auditorium at the Taft School in Watertown, CT. All are welcome and there is no ticket fee.

A eight-time Tony winning musical is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. From the incredibly talented students at Taft comes a story of love, lust, and war that is set during the French Revolution of the 1800's. Including some of the most famous songs from Schönberg's score in musical theater history, such as "I Dreamed a Dream," "On my Own," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "Do You Hear the People Sing," "At the End of the Day," "Stars," "In my life," "Bring Him Home," and many, many more.

The talented young actor Carey Cannata ("Rudy" in Over the Tavern at Seven Angels and at Seven Angels) will play the role of "Gavroche" and Jillian Wipfler will appear as "Fantine" Thanks to Mr. Cannata for this cast list:
