Preview of 'The Last Romance' at Seven Angels Theatre

The first show in Seven Angels' 22nd mainstage season

Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury kicks off their 22nd season with a real gem of a play. On October 18 The Last Romance by Joe DiPietro, comes to the intimate 300 seat theatre with a fantastic cast that includes Marie Wallace, Ron Crawford, Geraldine LiBrandi and  Eric Stephenson.

About the play… A crush can make anyone feel young again—even a widower named Ralph. On an ordinary day in a routine life, Ralph decides to take a different path on his daily walk—one that leads him to an unexpected second chance at love. Relying on a renewed boyish charm, Ralph attempts to woo the elegant, but distant, Carol. Defying Carol’s reticence—and his lonely sister’s jealousy—Ralph embarks on the trip of a lifetime and regains a happiness that seemed all but lost. A heart-warming comedy about the transformative power of love. You’re sure to fall in love with this tale that mixes heartbreak with humor and opera with laughter. “Remarkably free of cliché… this golden-years love story casts a bewitching spell.” Variety.

Many may remember Marie Wallace from the 1960s TV show Gothic soap opera, Dark Shadows. Marie was also on Another World and Guiding light in the early 1970s. In 1959, Marie landed her first Broadway show: as one of the showgirls in the original production of "Gypsy", starring Ethel Merman. Her list of Broadway credits grew to include The Beauty Part (1962-63); Nobody Loves an Albatross (1963-64), with Robert Preston; The Right Honourable Gentleman (1965-66) with Coral Browne and Frances Sternhagen; Sweet Charity (1966-67) starring Gwen Verdon and Ruth Buzzi, and directed by Bob Fosse; Mert and Phil with Beverlee McKinsey and Estelle Parsons, and directed by Joseph Papp; and The Women (1973) with Myrna Loy and Kim Hunter. She also toured the U.S. with Jackie Gleason in a production of Sly Fox and withwith Robert Goulet in Carousel..She jas also appeared in many regional theatre productions including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Night of the Iguana and  The Lion in Winter

Ron Crawford has had a distinguished acting career with many film credits including Arthur and the Invisibles, Arthur- Revenge of Malthazdar, Arthur- War of Two Worlds, Migraine, Ana's Smile, Sweet Little Lies  He also has many stage credits including The Crucible, The Grapes of Wrath, Oklahoma! Serious Money, A Raisin in the Sun 365 Plays in 365 Days, The Night of the Iguana and on TV he appeared on Spin City and All My Children.

Geraldine LiBrandi has been seen on some of the top TV shows including the Sopranos, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, All My Children, Against the Law, Missing: Rewards and many regional and off Broadway shows including North Shore Fish, Consequence, Emma, The Proposition  and Doubt, The Clean House, The Diary of Ann Frank, The Interview Managing Maxine, Italian American Reconciliation, A View From the Bridge and many more.

Eric Stephenson is a young actor with many credits on his resume including; Sunset Boulevard, Bitter Sweet, A Christmas Carol, Oliver, An American  Tragedy, Saint Joan, Fiddler on the Roof, Kiss Me Kate and Carousel.

The Last Romance runs October 18 through November 11. Tickets are $29-$39. Matinee and evening performances are available. First up is a Post Show Cast Party on Saturday, October 20. Patrons will enjoy delicious food, beverages and be able to meet the cast of the show.  Seven Angels Theatre is an award winning theatre located on Plank Road in Waterbury. Minutes off I-84 with plenty of free parking.
