Blue Steel is the commercial, popular music ensemble of the United States Air Force Academy Band. These full time, active duty bandsmen are committed to enhancing community relations, supporting the recruiting mission of the United States Air Force Academy and instilling the Air Force core values of Integrity, Service and Excellence in our nation’s youth. Blue Steel's mission also includes deployment, military support and troop morale. The group performs high energy music from a variety of genres, and their versatility and dynamic stage presence enables them to tell the Air Force story to audience members of all ages.

Torringon Symphony Orchestra's Fall Concert

The Fall 2012 Concert under the direction of conductor Maurice Steinberg will feature soloists, Thirzah Bendokas and Kimberly States.

The Torrington Symphony was founded in 1961 and has been an active part of the musical community ever since. The 45-plus Torrington Symphony amateur and professional musicians are drawn from 25 Connecticut towns, New York and Massachusetts.

Miss States, Soprano Soloist, has performed extensively throughout the United States and Canada. In the summer of 2007, Miss States traveled and performed in Italy while she participated in the Canta in Italia summer workshop. She also had the pleasure of performing in Austria and Germany in the summer of 2008. Kimberly graduated from Heidelberg University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Music. Currently, she is pursuing her Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

Thirzah Bendokas, concert cellist, made her professional debut with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, performing the Lalo Cello Concerto. Soon after came her solo debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra with the Kobalevsky Concerto. Besides local performances, Ms. Bendokas concertizes throughout the US, Austria, Portugal, Italy Canada, Switzerland and in Spain, where she was guest soloist in five International Music Festivals. She has performed at Tanglewood, appeared on TV and radio, toured the Northeastern US, was guest soloist in the Connecticut “First Great American Octet Concert,” and was featured in Milford’s “Annual Gala Holiday Chamber Music Concert.”
