Give Local 2014 Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills Was a Huge Success for Local Nonprofits

Over 7,000 participating nonprofits collectively raised more than $50 million nationwide.

The Connecticut Community Foundation is excited to announce that between 12 noon on May 6 and 12 noon on May 7th, generous donors contributed over $373,000 to 147 nonprofit organizations in the region as part of their second Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills! event - a 24-hour online community giving challenge to benefit local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.


Theater connection: Naugatuck's Phoenix Stage Company was ranked fifth on the leaderboard and raised $8,476. from 79 donors. Other grateful theaters include Palace Theater with $4,700, Landmark Community Theatre with $3,454, Shakesperience Productions, Inc. $1,515, Clockwork Repertory Theatre with $5,295, and Seven Angels Theatre with $2,815.

Participating nonprofits will share over $75,000 in matching funds provided by their sponsors. And throughout the 24 hours, many organizations were awarded cash prizes from the over $85,000 prize pool!

Part of a Nationwide Campaign

Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills! was part of Give Local America, a national charitable giving day in which Connecticut Community Foundation joined its peers across the country in celebration of the 100th anniversary of community foundations and the vital role these organizations play in fostering local philanthropy. Over 7,000 participating nonprofits collectively raised more than $50 million nationwide. They are thrilled to have taken part in an effort that encouraged so many to give throughout their communities and throughout the country!
