Ober has assembled a host of talent  for this production. Though only six in number, their gifts fill the house with ease.

Scott Stanchfield channels his grandfather in the role of Norman Thayer, Jr.”Not only was he grumpy but his name was Norman!”  quips Stanchfield in his usual good humor.  Recent  roles include Stanchfield’s hilarious turn as Tito Merelli in Lend Me a Tenor, his memorable Mr. Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors and his poignant and delightful presentation of Nunzio in Over the River and Through the Woods.

Norman’s wife Ethel Thayer will be portrayed by the remarkable Sarah Tames. A newcomer to the Goshen stage, Tames brings to this  production a wealth of professional and non-professional experience, including almost three decades teaching theatre at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT. Her recent roles include Vera in Aglet Theater’s The Oldest Profession, Ethel in Moon Over Buffalo at the Warner’s Nancy Marine Studio Theatre and Elizabeth in the world premiere of Loyalty Lies at Intar53 in New York, NY.

The well-loved Isabel Carrington will portray Norman and Ethel’s daughter, Chelsea. Carrington is returning to the stage after a hiatus  and joining the Goshen Players for the first time. She is the Director of Education for the Warner Theatre in Torrington where she has the thrill of instilling the joy of theatre into the hearts of students of all ages. Her favorite stage credits include Romaine is Witness for the Prosecution at the Warner, Corrie in Barefoot in the Park at the Groton Regional Theatre and Amy in Amy’s View  with the Old Lyme Players II.

Playing opposite Carrington is Mike Ritts as her finace (and later husband) Billy Ray. Ritts is no stranger to local audiences as his local acting career has spanned most of a decade. Recent roles have included Henry Bingham in Clockwork Rep’s The Fox on the Fairway, Turkey Guy in Theatreworks New Milford’s November and Sam Byck in Newington Main Stage’s production of Assassins.

Rounding out the cast are three actors whose roles, while smaller, are pivotal to the plot and outcome of the remarkable piece.

Randy Sittler plays the local mailman, Charlie, the constant reminder to all the characters of the uniqueness of Golden Pond. Sittler has performed in a variety of roles recently, including Bishop Henry T. Dobson in Anything Goes, Marino in Sunset Boulevard and Drake in Annie, all at the Warner Theatre in Torrington. When not on stage he can be found assisting with set construction and lighting tech at the Warner or racing sailboats competitively.

Sharing the role of Billy Ray, Jr. are Ben Porter and Connor Picard. Picard has extensive experience on stage, including eight shows in just the last three years! He now attends the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts where more productions will undoubtedly be forthcoming. Porter was recently seen as Freddie in Bye, Bye Birdie at the Region 6 Players. When not attending school, he finds time to play lacrosse, fish, hike and canoe. This is the first production with Goshen Players for both young men.
