Naugatuck High School Marching Band to Compete in MAC Championship Tonight [UPDATED]

UPDATE: At today's MAC Championship, the Naugatuck Marching Band not only broke a score of  90, they earned 93.9. The Greyhounds are the Class IV 2013 Champions!

This Saturday the Naugatuck High School Marching Band will be heading back to Kennedy Stadium in Bridgeport for their final competition of the season.

I have added many photos taken at the breakfast held on Saturday morning in honor of the band members.

The Musical Arts Conference (MAC) sponsors the championship that will include 11 bands from CT and UMASS Lowell in exhibition. There are two marching units in the Class IV that includes the NHS Marching Band. The competition begins at 5:00pm and the Greyhounds, under the direction of Mr. Robert Hughes, are scheduled to take the field at approximately 7:30pm.

The Greyhounds earned their highest score of the season this past weekend when they scored 89.9. They are hopeful of breaking into the 90s for this championship.

Last Friday members of the NHS Marching Band dressed in their garnet warmup suits and visited several borough schools to perform for students and teachers. Several "band parents" chaperoned the trip and quickly helped pack and unpack the needed instruments. The entire student body of Maple Hill School cheered for the teens as they played their program in concert formation with the color guard in front. By the end of the marvelous performance, many budding musicians had picked out the instrument that they hope to play when they are old enough to be in the band.

Go Naugy!
