Open House for parents and guardians of middle school and high school students at WAMS was held on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Principal Leo Lavallee stood outside the front doors to the magnet school located next to Waterbury's Palace Theater to welcome families as they arrived. In the lobby, students were able to sign up for various after-school activities. Tables of laptops were set up for parents to take a brief parent survey online and WAMS students were available to help with the technical aspects.
Promptly at 6:15 pm, parents followed a shortened version of their student's schedule. In eight minutes, teachers gave a short description of curriculum, expectations, policies and the like. Mrs. Marianna Vagnini-Dadamo showed a short video of high school students rehearsing in the chorus room.
Visitors had four minutes to race to their next destination; unlike their student, they didn't even have to stop at their locker.
