Piano Recital to be Held at St. Vincent Ferrer Church

Rev. Kevin J. Forsyth, the pastor of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, has announced that Leslie Merwin, the church relief organist, will play a recital of piano works by Chopin, Debussy and Liszt in preparation for the upcoming Chopin International Competition in Hartford. The recital will be held at the church on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 5:15pm.

Ms. Merwin has performed at the Berkshire and Aspen Music Festivals, at Carnegie Recital Hall, the Phillips Gallery, Washington, D.C. and the Isabella Stuart Gardiner Museum in Boston as well as at colleges and universities from Maine to California.

She was Top Prize winner of the Young Keyboard Artists International Competition and has performed with the New Haven Symphony. She holds a Master of Music degree from Juilliard and did post-graduate studies in Paris at the Ecole Normale de Musique as the recipient of the Debussy Prize of the Alliance Francaise of New York.

Ms. Merwin has been helping out at Saint Vincent Ferrer since 2010 and worked with some of their choir members on a recording for the Hartford Archdiocese this past fall. Fr. Forsyth called the upcoming concert a "true blessing for our parish."

This event is free and open to the public. St. Vincent Ferrer is located at 1006 New Haven Road (Route 63) in Naugatuck.
