Poli Club Jazz Series Extended at Waterbury's Palace Theater

WATERBURY - After  the success of this summer’s three-show jazz series, New England Arts and Entertainment LLC will present twelve more jazz concerts at the Waterbury Palace Theater Poli Club beginning July 19, 2013, through March 28, 2014. The series is sponsored by PowerStation Events, Mario’s Pizza and Deli, Sweet Maria’s, Como Bakery, George’s Music Center Torrington, LaBonne’s Market Watertown, Litchfield Performing Arts, and the Crowne Plaza Southbury.

The shows, which feature performances by in-demand regional artists and top names in the world of jazz, will be segmented into three series, each consisting of four concerts. The Late Summer Jazz Series kicks-off July 19, with the sultry sounds of the Allegra Levy Quartet, whose raven haired vocalist has recently taken the New York jazz scene by storm, and continues on August 2, with jazz vocalist Dana Lauren, who at age 23, has already recorded two albums, graduated from Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship, and performed at some of the Nation’s most prestigious jazz venues.

On August 16, the Ali Ryerson - Joe Carter Duo, made up of Ryerson on flutes and Carter on guitar, will musically travel from New York to Rio performing Bossa Novas and Sambas from Brazil along with Jazz Standards from the Great American songbook. On September 13, the series wraps up with the Lauren Sevian Quartet, featuring Grammy award-winning saxophonist Lauren Sevian, who by the age of 17, had already performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Village Vanguard. In 2003, Sevian became a regular member of the Mingus Big Band and has performed with them both nationally and internationally.
