Fractured Fairy Tale Is Fun for the Whole Family!

So you think you know the fairy tale of Rumplestilskin? Think again!

GOSHEN, CT - May 24, 2013 - Goshen Players presents “Rumple Who?”, a “fractured” fairy tale based on an old and well-loved story.

This musical version of the classic tale brings to life not only the impish title character but also hilariously reveals much about his intended victims.

Rumplestilskin, played by Rich McKenna of Northfield, plays his tricks and plies his trade with friendly and boisterous elan. Gone is the creepy character of the storybook, replaced with a practical joker whose name and ultimate goals remain a secret from all but the audience.

The title character’s easiest foil is the vain and overbearing Queen, played by Heather Kelly of Torrington. This musical monarch’s sole interest in life is the accumulation and hoarding of gold, gold and more gold! This unhealthy obsession allows Rumplestilskin to cause her no end of problems, from a lost dance contest to the placement of peanut butter where it never should be!

Rumplestilskin also manages to have an effect on the life of the Queen’s son, King Henry. The hen-pecked and juvenile King, portrayed by Matthew Vella of Torrington, manages to change for the better as a result of the title character’s interference. But will the poor man ever manage to keep his room clean?

Rounding out the piece is Goshen’s own lovely Casey Grambo as the Miller’s Daughter. A dreamer with a penchant for tall tales, this young lady gets more than she bargains for in the trouble-making Rumplestilskin.

Directed by Beth Steinberg with musical direction by Scott Stanchfield, “Rumple Who?” is perfect for audiences of all ages. The piece is interactive, engaging and loads of fun. The music is lyric and accessible, using humor and melody to further the plot and the character’s goals.

Youngsters and their favorite adults have the choice of two show times daily! The 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm performances allow for pre- or post-show naps, should they be necessary.

At only $10 each, tickets for this family friendly event are wallet friendly too!    Will the Queen, the Prince and the Daughter learn their lessons and that funny man’s name in time? Will the audience help? Will you help?

“Rumple Who” will be presented June 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rs at 1:00 pm and 4:00 daily. All tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 860.491.9988 or visiting www.goshenplayers.org.
