Wolcott Native Alec Varcas to Make Off-Broadway Debut

The talented Alec Varcas, a 2012 graduate of Quinnipiac University, is preparing to open the Off-Broadway production of 50 Shades! The Musical - The Original Parody.

Mr. Varcas recently made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Bravo. He had previously toured with the musical Spamalot and has taught classes at the Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education. I have enjoyed his performances in Next to Normal and The Rocky Horror Show at the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre at the Warner. He also worked at Waterbury's Seven Angels Theatre. When I first saw this young man in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in New Britain, I wrote the following: "a gifted choreographer, this is a young man to watch." Little did I know...

50 Shades! The Musical - The Original Parody at The Elektra Theatre (300 W. 43rd Street), will begin performances on Friday, February 21st with opening night set for March 12th. The show is directed by Al Samuels and Rob Lindley.

As reported on BroadwayWorld.com, the cast features David Andino (The Buddy Holly Story), Kaitlyn Frotton (Scab), Chris Grace ("The Awkward Moment"), Adam Hyndman (NBC's "The Sing Off"), Tim Murray (MTV's "White House Down"), Amber Petty (voice of Sirius/XM's Radio Margaritaville), Casey Rogers (Catch Me If You Can), Alec Varcas (Spamalot), Ashley Ward (Baby Wants Candy), and Chloe Williamson (Save The Date).

The company recently met the press and BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge was there to chat with the company. Check out what they had to say and watch a performance preview.

Break a leg, Alec. We are so happy for you!
