Naugy Pride U11 Boys open season with a win and a draw

The Naugatuck Youth Soccer U11 Boys Naugy pride opened their season last Friday night in a friendly against Prospect with a 5-1 victory at Breen North. It was the first outdoor game of the spring for the boys. Scoring for Naugy were Jay Barth, Tyler Timlen, Steven Alziphat, Saul Pujols and Ryan Galiette.

Naugy opened their league schedule on Sunday April 27 with a 2-2 draw against Haddam-Killingworth. Naugy opened the scoring with Steven Alziphat netting one mid way through the first half. H.K tied it 1-1 going into half time. H.K came out in the second half and scored on a breakaway to take a 2-1 advantage. Naugy missed several opportunities to tie it up on shots by Jay Barth which hit the cross bar, Steven Alziphat who hit one just wide, Tyler Timlen who hit the outside of the post and Tommy Pompei and Alziphat who were called offsides on clear breakways. With about 10 minutes left, Chris Akinduro was fouled just outside the box and Chad Mahler tied it on a great free kick. Naugy had a couple chances late to grab the win with Steven Alziphat having two point blank shots saved by the H.K. goalie. Tyler Demoura made a game saving save in the final minutes to preserve the 2-2 draw. Ryan Kiely and Saul Pujols played very well for Naugy in the tie.

Naugy plays Trumbull at 8pm Friday night 5/2 at Breen North in their first round of the CT Cup, then takes on Clinton Saturday night 5/3 at 8pm at Breen North in a league game.
