Obituary: Marguerite B. White Dies at 96

Died: November 28, 2011

Services:  A funeral service will be held on Friday December 2, 2011 at 11 am at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North. A private burial will be held in the New North Cemetery, Woodbury.

Visitation:  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday December 1, 2011 from 4 to 6 pm.

Marguerite B. White, 96, of Heritage Village died Monday November 28, 2011 in her home. She was the wife of the late Willard White, who died in 1986.

Mrs. White was born October 21, 1915 in West New York, New Jersey, daughter of the late Rev. George and Marguerite (Ring) Berrian. She earned her Bachelors in Science from Skidmore College, her Masters in Nursing Education from Syracuse University, and her Phd. in Nursing Education from Columbia Teachers College. She taught for over 18 years at Skidmore College, Syracuse University and Wagner College. She was the Associate Dean of UCONN School of Nursing for 10 years. She was author and co-author of 4 published books on nursing education.

After retirement, she moved to Heritage Village where she served two terms on the Condo Board, was a volunteer with the Heritage Village Ambulance association for over twenty years during which she served as its President over two years. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and loved the New York Yankees.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ellen and her husband Douglas Jeffrey of Southbury, Elizabeth "Liz" and her husband Dana Fox of Leland, NC, three grandchildren, David Kuhla and his wife Diane of Washington, DC, Michael Kuhla of Milford, Ct, Kathleen Singley and her husband Paul of Naugatuck, and a great granddaughter Tessa Singley.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Southbury Public Library, 100 Poverty Road, Southbury, Ct 06488.
