Obituary: Blanche Brillis Dies at 102

The following obituary was provided by Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home.

WATERBURY — Blanche (Gudreau) (Green) Brillis, 102 of  Cheshire House in Waterbury died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.  She was the widow of Andrew C. Brillis.

Blanche was born on April 12, 1908 in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada daughter of the late Charles Gudreau and Theresa (Lajoie) (Gudreau) (Waters) Sullivan. She retired from Lux Clock of Waterbury as an assembler.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Waterbury. She loved to knit and crochet baby blankets and afghans and they were donated to Waterbury and St. Mary's Hospitals.  She also loved to grow African violets.

She is survived by three daughters, Evelyne Steele of Wolcott, Kathleen Barratt and her husband Warren of Prospect, and Marsha Leisring and her husband Samuel of Waterbury, seven grandchildren, several great -grandchildren and one great- great- granddaughter.

Blanche was predeceased by a daughter Rola (Green) Spataro, a son Wayne Lee Green, a son-in-law David S. Steele and a sister Dinease Alcott.  She was also predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Gudreau and a half-brother Charles Gudreau.

A private funeral will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte 69, Prospect. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m.
