Obituary: Catherine J. Pichulo Dies at 98

Enjoyed traveling, had a big family and was a communicant at St. Michael's Church in Naugatuck.

NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Catherine J. (Godzieba) Pichulo, 98, of Bowman Drive, Naugatuck, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Joseph L. Pichulo.

Mrs. Pichulo was born in Ansonia on August 29, 1913, a daughter of the late Alexander and Helen (Krysneke) Godzieba. She lived in Naugatuck since her wedding date June 15, 1936 and retired after 40 years of service from the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc. Cassy as everyone knew her, belonged to the Daughters of Isabella, loved to play at the casinos, enjoyed traveling with her husband on cruises to Bermuda, Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean, and Puerto Rico, as well as spending many summers at their camp in Maine.  She was a communicant of St. Michael Church.

She leaves her son Edward J. Pichulo and his wife Anastasia of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home; her granddaughter, Anastasia S. Przybyloski and her husband Joseph, and their two children, Joseph and Sophia; her grandson, Edward J. Pichulo, Jr. and his two daughters, Alyssa and Isabella; her sisters-in-law, Amelia Pichulo and Katherine Mulinski; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 30 at 9 a.m. at St. Michael Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Unit C, Middlebury, CT 06762. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck is assisting the family.
