Obituary: Charles J. Wojtczak Dies at 86

The following obituary was provided by Naugatuck Valley Memorial Funeral Home.

NAUGATUCK — Mr. Charles J. Wojtczak, age 86 of 44 Marbern Lane, passed away on Friday March 23, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was husband to the late Adele M. (Brejwa) Wojtczak.

Charles was born in Naugatuck on June 20, 1925, son of the late Thomas and Romualda Wojtczak.  He was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck and he retired from the Footwear Division of Uniroyal, Inc. after 42 years of service. After retirement, he also worked at Western Hills and East Mountain Golf Courses in Waterbury. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. Wojtczak loved all sports.  He was an avid golfer and won many awards and championships.  He was a member of the Naugatuck Hall of Fame, the Catholic War Veterans, and a communicant of St. Hedwig Church.

He leaves 2 daughters, Debra A. Wojtczak of Naugatuck, Lynne M. Coutu of Waterbury; a sister Zita Evanoski of Naugatuck; 5 grandchildren, Kristen, John, Sarah, Brandon and Jordan; 4 great grandchildren, Todd, Ben, Cara and Kaleigh and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday March 27, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck to St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill Street, Naugatuck for A Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM.

Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. Members of the Naugatuck Veteran's Council will meet at the funeral home on Monday at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
