Obituary: Charles W. Becker Dies at 90

The following obituary was provided by Naugatuck Valley Memorial Funeral Home.

NAUGATUCK — Charles W. Becker, age 90, of 66 Hickory Road, passed away on Monday Dec. 19, 2011 at Paradigm Health Center of Prospect. He was husband of Jean (Farrar) Becker.

Mr. Becker was born in Williamsport, PA on Dec. 3, 1921, son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Snyder) Becker. He was a resident of Naugatuck for many years, and he retired from Lewis Kitchen and Bath in Waterbury. He was also a self-employed carpenter, building many homes in the area. Mr. Becker was active in the community and served on several town committees. Charles served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Francis Church.

Besides his wife of 65 years, he leaves a son, Joseph Becker and his companion Leslie of Norwood, Mass.; a sister Myrtle Jones of Calif.; two grandchildren, Dylan Becker and Hannah Becker; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Thursday December 22, 2011 from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. 

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimers Association Connecticut Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
