Obituary: Dorothy M. (Vera) Cherhoniak Dies at 78

BEACON FALLS — Mrs. Dorothy M. (Vera) Cherhoniak, age 78, of 66 North Main St., passed away on Monday Dec. 19, 2011 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was widow of Andrew Cherhoniak, Sr.

Mrs. Cherhoniak was born in Waterbury, CT on Oct. 18, 1933, daughter of the late Daniel and Elsie (Castro) Vera. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School. She was a longtime Beacon Falls resident and she retired as manager of personnel from Rison Manufacturing after many years of service.

Dorothy was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. She enjoyed bingo and was a fan of the UConn women’s basketball team.

She leaves three sons, Andrew Cherhoniak of Naugatuck, Gary Cherhoniak of Prospect and Richard Cherhoniak of Beacon Falls; two daughters, Donna Taylor of Beacon Falls and Diane Cherhoniak of Roxbury; two sisters, Karen Farri of Naugatuck and Dolores Venditto of S.C.; eight grandchildren, one great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Daniel P. Cherhoniak. 

Her funeral will be held on Friday December 23, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Three Saints Orthodox
