Obituary: Gary C. Porter Dies at 68

GASTON, N.C. — Mr. Gary C. Porter, 68 of Gaston, N.C., passed away Sept. 19, 2011. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Fields) Porter.
Gary was born in Waterbury, a son of the late William and Ruth (Cadwallader) Porter, and was a graduate of Watertown High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He had formerly lived in Naugatuck, prior to relocating to North Carolina.
Besides his wife of Gaston, he leaves his former wife, Lois Porter of Naugatuck, and two step-sons in Connecticut, Raymond Demers, and Michael Demers, and a step-daughter, Kimberly Plude also of Naugatuck; a sister, Ruth Ann Fairchild of Naugatuck; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Melissa.
