Obituary: Harold Dutton Dies at 73

Man had family in Southbury, Naugatuck and Oxford.

WATERTOWN – Mr. Harold Dutton, 73, of Sky Hollow Court, of the Oakville section of Watertown, passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving family and friends at Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck. He was the husband of Diane M. (Stubbs) Dutton.

Mr. Dutton was born in Waterbury on May 24, 1938, a son of the late Kenneth R. and Virginia (Birch) Dutton. He was a longtime Naugatuck resident before moving to Watertown and Oakville, where he resided for the past 20 years. He was an Army veteran and retiree from Bristol Babcock where he worked for over 20 years. In his later years he enjoyed working as a crossing guard. Harold was an outdoorsman who was passionate about camping.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Mark Dutton of Thomaston; three daughters, Patti Jensen and her husband Jack of Southbury, Nora Caruso and her husband George of Thomaston, Paula Abate and her husband Jason of Naugatuck; two step-daughters, Kimberly Lemoine  and her husband Rick of Thomaston and Laurie Squires of Terryville; three sisters, Karen Laudati and Holly Siwanowiz both of Naugatuck, Billie Ruth Rice of Oxford; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Westly and Roy Dutton, and a sister, Virginia Estes.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24 at noon at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harold’s favorite charity, the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
